Court Business Analyst / Report Writer



This is advanced professional and technical work focusing on process improvement mapping, SQL queries, and testing, as well as strong communication and documentation skills. This position is responsible for gathering user requirements and generating reports via SQL to fulfill them. Additionally, this position will work both independently and as part of a term to document and catalog business processes. This position will also participate in QA testing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field and one (1) year experience in the support of software or business applications; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience deemed acceptable by the Court. Preference is given for 1-2 years' experience within the court system.

Essential Duties

  • Author functional specifications and communicate business requirements between development team and CIO to design and enhance business solutions;
  • Conduct customer interviews and produce meeting summaries;
  • Analyze user needs, research available options, prepare cost benefit analysis, and determine most appropriate automated solutions;
  • Analyze, develop and propose enhancements to current business processes, departmental reports and applications. Use analytics to support the recommendations;
  • Construct workflow charts and process diagrams in Microsoft Visio;
  • Create ad hoc reports using SQL queries and Crystal Reports;
  • Edit HTML pages;
  • Serve as project lead for the development and implementation of various hardware and software systems;
  • Conduct parallel and regression testing and solution documentation in QA prior to implementation of enhancements;
  • Performs related work as required;
  • Establishes working relationships with judges, court personnel, attorneys, law enforcement, social services, witnesses, and the general public.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of various types of computer hardware, software and peripherals;
  • Familiarity with project management principles and Agile software implementation methodologies;
  • Proficiency with SQL and Crystal Reports;
  • Familiarity with HTML editing best practices;
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrate initiative when resolving issues and creating solutions;
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to thrive independently or as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of data processing principles, standard, and procedures;
  • Knowledge of data design methods.
