The City of Charlottesville Department of Social Services is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Senior Family Services Specialist - Adult Protective Services who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville's Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, position.

This position serves as the initial point of contact for adult protective services reports and case assignments concerning abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults aged 60+, adults 18+ living with disabilities, and adults having special needs. Position also handles and maintains guardianship cases. Serves as APS policy expert for other staff and provides back up to APS supervisor when needed. Primarily and most frequently the work done here is performed independently, with diverse functional areas and more specialization and ability to train others. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a Social Services Family Services Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
 A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field. (Minimally, a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area per Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia may be substituted as equivalent.)
 At least three years of prior, progressively responsible work experience related to social work programs is required.
 Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or qualified and able to obtain a valid VA driver's license prior to starting the position.
