Assistant Police Chief
The City of Neenah, Wisconsin (population 25,500) is seeking career-minded candidates for the position of Assistant Police Chief. The Assistant Police Chief serves as a key part of the management team, and is responsible for managing, directing and supervising the operational functions of the Neenah Police Department.
Responsibilities include management of patrol operations, investigative services, and the neighborhood policing program, personnel management, assisting with fiscal management, and internal investigation coordination. The work is performed in a team environment under the direction of the Police Chief. The Assistant Police Chief is highly visible in the community and subject to a high level of public scrutiny. This is an excellent position for developing chief executive skills. The Assistant Police Chief will function as the Police Chief in his/her absence, and may include a period of service as interim chief.
Applicants for this position must possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree preferred
• Ten years law enforcement experience
• Three years supervisory or leadership experience
• All basic qualifications for entry-level police officer, including achievement of certification as a
law enforcement officer in the State of Wisconsin within one year of employment

Qualified candidates will be interviewed on October 14, 2019. Candidates who pass this interview will be interviewed by a second panel on October 21, 2019. Candidates who pass this interview, will be
interviewed by the Neenah Police Commission on November 6, 2019.
Finalist candidates will be subject to a promotional potential evaluation, background investigation, psychological screening, medical exam, and polygraph test.
Pay & Application Requirements
The salary range for the position is $72,345 - $103,916 annually. Starting salaries above the midpoint of $87,692 require Common Council approval. The City offers participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System and a competitive benefits package. This is an exempt position under the FLSA not eligible for overtime pay.
