About Us

The Denver Police Department (DPD) - Volunteers In Police Services (VIPS) is now accepting applications for unpaid Internships and Volunteers within the DPD.

 

Working with a task or field supervisor, volunteers and interns will have the opportunity to learn and gain a better understanding of the Law Enforcement Field by participating and getting hands on experience assisting in these various areas: Training Scenario Role Playing, Administrative/clerical support,  Victim Advocacy Support Services, Chaplaincy, Translation, Social Media, Information Desk Help, COP Shops, Fingerprinting.

Internship:   The Internship is intended for college students who are exploring career fields and/or whose degree requires an internship and is recommended for participants in the study areas of Public Service, Criminal Justice, Marketing, Legal, Human Services, Communications, Non-Profit Management.

 

 

Previously, the Denver Police Department has placed Interns in the following positions:

Day In The Life Of an Officer - for students who are looking to become Law Enforcement Officers

  • Civilian Role in Law Enforcement  for students looking to work in a Law Enforcement agency in a civilian capacity, not sworn
  • Video Production  for students who are majoring in media production, journalism, broadcast
  • Civil Liabilities Section  for students who are seeking their paralegal certificate
  • Non-Profit Management  for students who are seeking their degree in non-profit management, business administration, and other related programs 

 

 

About You

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum 30 hours in one calendar year
  • Interns must be receiveing school credit

Copy of driver's license

  • INTERNS ONLY: Copy of Transcripts  must have minimum 2.5 GPA
  • INTERNS ONLY: Cover Letter highlighting three learning objectives
  • INTERNS ONLY: Syllabus for Internship Course  Students MUST be receiving school credit
