Cumberland County is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a part-time (20-25 hour) Assistant Clerk II vacancy at
the Registry of Probate.

JOB PURPOSE: The purpose of the Assistant Probate Clerk II position is to support the Adult Guardian/Conservator
Probate Clerk II to ensure the compliance of the Maine Rules of Probate and Civil Procedure through the acceptance,
processing and management of adult guardian and conservator proceedings. The Assistant Probate Clerk informs
customers of the filing requirements; responds to client and/or legal representative questions and inquiries during and
after each filing; ensures legal notices and recording requirements are met; assists in the review of annual guardianship
and conservatorship reports; reviews financial reports for accuracy and compliance; and presents accurate and complete
updates and filings to the Register or Judge of Probate. Performs all other related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required. Minimum of one year of related governmental, court or legal office
work experience preferred; or any combination of education, training and experience. Associates degree in legal
administration or business desirable. Knowledge of contemporary office procedures, practices and terminology.
Working knowledge of government, legal or court operations.
