We are recruiting for a unique position, Police Officer, assigned to Special Victims Detective primarily responsible for investigating criminal conduct to identify and apprehend offenders for prosecution in crimes of a sensitive nature.
Example of Duties
Assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division to investigate criminal cases involving sexual assault, elder abuse, domestic or child related kidnapping, assault, and stalking;
Conduct interviews of witnesses and victims, interrogations, and apprehensions of suspects;
Compiles extensive case files and maintains accurate records and weekly reports of activities;
Testifies during criminal and regulatory trials;
Trains and assists patrol officers with ongoing investigations;
Conducts specialized training in-house and at community engagements;
Works collaboratively with other agencies on case-related victim and evidentiary issues.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or General Education Degree. An Associate's Degree in related field is preferred. Individual must have five (5) years of experience as a Virginia certified law enforcement officer.
