Senior Radio-Communications Transport Engineer



This position is responsible for performing duties related to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining communication systems in a secure CJIS environment.
Applicant(s) understand that you will be required to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support. Salary dependent upon experience.



  • Design, configure, implement, repair, and provide technical support for RF systems
  • Process documentation required for FAA/FCC filings and compliance
  • Install, prepare, run, terminate, and test coax and network cabling
  • Configure, install and maintain Alarm, entry access and camera security systems
  • Test, tune, and align duplexers, pre-selectors, repeaters, mobiles, and portables
  • Configure, implement and use complex test equipment to align, maintain, and repair systems
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair communication systems
  • Assist the IT Support team with the inventory management of IT assets
  • In addition to his or her duties, the Senior Radio-Communications Transport Engineer will be required to perform various duties at the direction of the IT Manager




  • Associate's degree or technical training in RF related area and 4 years' experience in communications or 6 years' experience in RF communications
  • Intermediate knowledge of RF test equipment such as Transmission Impairment Test Sets, signal generators, RF service monitors, spectrum analyzers, Site Master, and LAN testers.
  • Basic Computer and Networking skills.
  • Knowledge of frequency utilization, battery back-up systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, radio template development, flash upgrading, and CPS programming.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-starter able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision

 Ability to compile data for special and periodic reports.
 Ability to maintain complex records and/or databases, and prepare accurate reports from such records.
 Ability to properly interpret and make decisions conforming to Sheriff's Office regulations and policies.
 Ability to carry out assignments independently and without specific instructions.
 Ability to anticipate changes in the priorities of tasks or volume of work to be accomplished.
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers and the public.
 Ability to apply principles of logic and scientific thinking to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
 Skill in the use of Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange Servers.
 Skill in the use of Windows operating systems for network and mobile applications.
 Ability to research and interpret technical instructions for various hardware and software and acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
