Amherst County, Virginia is seeking applications for the position of Network Specialist. Major responsibilities of the position include analyzing, troubleshooting, and configuring computer applications and systems for all County departments; providing software and hardware related support to the users of the network, server, PC and all peripherals. The position is also responsible for installing, testing, configuring and utilizing operating systems, application software and network hardware according to County requirements.
Competitive candidates must possess an associate's degree in computer technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of IT certifications, education and experience. Experience with Windows Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VLAN's, Windows desktop, Windows server operating system, and configuring switches and routers is preferred. Experience with Public Safety IT requirements is also preferred.
