The Town of Hurt is accepting applications from VA DCJS Certified individuals for a full-time town patrolman/police officer. This position lends itself well to an individual who is a team player, functions well in a smaller organization, is proactive, and strives to build an excellent rapport with his/her local community. Hurt is a small, congenial, mainly residential town of 1,300 citizens located at the northern extremity of Pittsylvania County, and separated from the adjacent larger town of Altavista and Campbell County only by the Staunton River. We are a relatively low-crime locality, and are working diligently to grow our local economy. Our officers work in close collaboration with other surrounding departments, volunteer firefighters, EMS, and other entities to serve and protect area citizens and businesses. They also work closely with other employees, town council/mayor, schools, businesses, and concerned citizens to support a high quality of life for everyone.

Qualified applicants will be U.S. Citizens 21+ years of age, hold a HS diploma or equivalent, possess a valid VA driver's license, pass an extensive background investigation, and demonstrate high integrity/moral character.
