Technology Support Technician



 Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and other support tasks on servers, desktop computers, laptop computers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment in support of JCSA users; perform database and network administration including user interface, capacity planning, maintenance, security, and access control, restoration and back up supervision, and quality assurance of records in the databases.
 Develop automated solutions, plan system integration, assist in the management of the JCSA's CMMS, SCADA, network operations; perform virtual server administration; set up user accounts and passwords; perform data backup and restoration duties, and quality assurance of records in JCSA databases; update the SCADA HMI (Human Machine Interface) as needed; update Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) as needed.
 Collect and analyze information and prepare reports for use by JCSA management, such as trend analysis of maintenance systems; assist with design and improvement of technical processes, and assist in projects such as SCADA and CMMS upgrades.


 Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related field; supplemented by training in the use and repair of computing devices; some experience with VMware vSphere and cybersecurity.
 Must possess or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire a valid Virginia driver's license and have an acceptable driving record based on James City County's criteria.
 Knowledge of relational database management systems and operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and enterprise server applications, networking technologies, virtual servers, PCs, laptops, and mobile devices; TCP/IP and related internet protocols; data processing principles and practices related to applications development and database programming; multiple computer programming languages and SQL; knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including setting and meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
