To patrol an assigned district in the City of Little Rock in order to enforce laws and ordinances.

*Salary listed is effective for all dates of hire in 2019.  2020 salary range to be determined.
*Recruits and Lateral Officers who successfully complete the Academy will be eligible for a $5,000 Recruitment Incentive.

Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements


To be considered for employment as a Police Officer with the Little Rock Police Department, applicants must meet the criteria established by the State of Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement, the State of Arkansas Civil Service Statutes, and the Little Rock Civil Service Rules and Regulations (list is not all inclusive).  Please click here to review these eligibility requirements.

  • Application and supplemental questions must be submitted no later than August 16, 2019 11:59 AM to be considered for the February 2020 Police Academy.

APPLICATION AND PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: Applicants are required to complete an application and all supplemental questions on-line at  www.LRJobs.net. Candidates will receive a confirmation email once their application has been submitted successfully.

Human Resources will submit all candidates to LRPD personnel for a preliminary background check.  If any of the following are found during the preliminary background, the candidate will be automatically disqualified:
  • Invalid driver's license
  • Prior felony conviction - NOTE:  Expunged and/or pardoned felonies still disqualify candidates from employment as a Police Officer.
  • Prior domestic abuse conviction
  • Excessive traffic points accrued within the past three years. 
Applicants who have successfully completed the on-line application, supplemental questions, and the preliminary background check will receive additional information about scheduling for the written exam and physical endurance and ability testing.  Test dates will be available August 25th, August 29th, August 31st and September 5th, 2019.
